1, FUNG WA CHUN of Victoria in the Colony of Hongkong
Comoradore do solemnly and sincerely declare that:-
1. At the end of the year 1900 Chau Tung Shang of Canton 10
the Empire of China and myself entered into a joint venture or
partnership under the style of "the Yew Cheung Fira" for the our-
-pose of purchasing coal at Bongay from the Societe Francaise des
Charbonnages du Toakia for sale at Ganton.
2. The Capital of the said partnership was the sum vi
$200,000 of which sum 1 subscribed one-half and the said Chau Tung
Shang subscribed one-half.
3. On the 11th. day of December, 1900, an Agreement was
entered into with the said Societe for the curchase from it of
monthly quantities of coal between the 1st. Feoruary, 1901, and
31st. January, 1908. By such Agreement it was provided that the
term thereof might be extended if desired from the said 31st.
January, 1903, to the 31st. January, 1904.
4. The term of the said Agreement was extended beyond the
said 31st. January, 1903, and on the 10th. Jone, 1903, a fresh
Aersement was entered into whereby it was agreed that the sala
Agreement of the 11th. December, 1900, should be extended to Sist.
May, 1904.
5. A further Agreement was also entered into on the said
10th. June, 1908, for the purchase of further coal from the said
Societe in monthly quantities between the 1st. June, 1904, and the
$1st. December, 1904.
6. About the middle of 1904, after the last mentioned Agres-
-ment was entered into, the said Chau Tung Shang informed me toat
